Anna Netrebko, Michael Volle & Klaus Florian Vogt Lead Staatstheater Wiesbaden’s 2023-24 Season

The Staatstheater Wiesbaden has announced its 2023-24 season featuring premieres, revivals, and recitals.

Premieres

Wagner’s “Lohengrin” will be conducted by Michael Güttler and directed by Henriette Hörnigk. The cast will be led by Mirko Roschkowski, Marco Jentzsch, Klaus Florian Vogt, Heather Engebretson, Khatuna Mikaberidze, KS Thomas de Vries, Egils Silins, Young Doo Park, and Timo Riihonen.

Performance Dates: Sept. 16, 2023-May 31, 2024

Stephen Sondheim’s “Follies” will star Pia Douwes, Dirk Weiler, Jacqueline Macaulay, Thomas Maria Peters, Kelly Panier, Niklas Roling, Larissa Hartmann, Johannes Summer, and Annette Luig, among others. Albert Horne conducts the production by Tom Gerber.

Performance Dates: Oct. 21, 2023-June 27, 2024

Konrad Junghänel conducts Uwe Eric Laufenberg new production of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte.” The cast includes Young Doo Park, Timo Riihonen, Ioan Hotea, Gustavo Quaresma, Beate Ritter, Christina Esterházy, Anastasiya Taratorkina, Alyona Rostovskaya, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Christopher Bolduc, and Benjamin Russell.

Performance Dates: Dec. 3, 2023-June 29, 2024

Weber’s “Der Freischütz” will star Christopher Bolduc, Mikhail Biryukov, Alyona Rostovskaya, Dimitry Ivashchenko, Thomas Blondelle, Anastasiya Taratorkina, and Erik Biegel. Johannes Klumpp conducts the new production by Clemens Bechtel.

Performance Dates: March 17-June 9, 2024

Olesya Golovneva and Anna Netrebko share the title role in Puccini’s “Turandot” in a new production by Daniela Kerck. The cast will also include Young Doo Park, Aaron Cawley, Yusif Eyvazov, and Heather Engebretson.

Performance Dates: April 13-June 22, 2024

Željko Lučić sings the title role of Verdi’s “Falstaff” in a production by Uwe Eric Laufenberg. Antonello Allemandi conducts a cast that also includes Aluda Todua, Ioan Hotea, Gustavo Quaresma, Erik Biegel, Alyona Rostovskaya, Anastasiya Taratorkina, and Romina Boscolo.

Revivals 

Christopher Bolduc, Benjamin Russell, Alyona Rostovskaya, Slávka Zámečníková, Anastasiya Taratorkina, Anna El-Khashem, Benjamin Russell, Konstantin Krimmel, Silvia Hauer, and Heather Engebretson star in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Konrad Junghänel conducts.

Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth von Mtensk” is set to star Cornelia Beskow, Andrey Valentiy, Samuel Levine, and Aaron Cawley.

Lehár’s “Die lustige Witwe” is set to star Alyona Rostovskaya, Elissa Huber, Thomas Blondelle, Alexandre Beuchat, Ioan Hotea, Gustavo Quaresma, Ralf Lukas, Stephanos Tsirakoglou, Elisabeth Breuer, Rinnat Moriah, and Anastasiya Taratorkina. Yoel Gamzou, Johannes Klumpp, and Holger Reinhardt alternate in the pit.

Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel” will star Vera Ivanovic, Fleuranne Brockway, Silvia Hauer, Anastasiya Taratorkina, and Kangmin Justin Kim. Holger Reinhardt conducts.
