Opera Baltimore Unveils 2025-26 Season ‘Power, Passion, and the Price of Truth’

By David Salazar

Opera Baltimore has announced its 2025-26 season, “Power, Passion, and the Price of Truth.”

“This season charts the journey from secrecy to revelation,” said Julia Cooke, President and General Director, per an official press release. “Each work explores the human cost of voice — what it takes to speak, what it risks to remain silent, and what happens when those in power decide which truths deserve to be heard.”

The season opens with a fully-staged “Tosca,” which the company describes as “resistance in three acts.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 10 & 12, 2025

Then comes “Lucrezia Borgia” in a concert performance. The company notes that “this concert opera gives a voice to the woman who has long been defined by others — and lets her speak for herself.”

Performance Dates: March 4-8, 2026

Finally, the company presents a concert performance of “Pelléas et Mélisande.”

“A quiet tragedy where power operates in shadows and soft words carry sharp edges. Debussy’s only opera unfolds like a secret withheld for too long,” the company notes in its description of the iconic masterpiece.

Performance Dates: April 22-26, 2026
