Opera Atelier to Return to Live Performances with ‘All is Love’ Event

By Logan Martell

Opera Atelier has announced that they are set to return to live performances with their upcoming concert, “All is Love.”

This Valentine’s-themed event will be a fully-staged production, featuring works from Rameau, Charpentier, Renaldo Hahn, Debussy, Purcell, Locke, and Handel. The roster of artists is comprised of tenors Colin Ainsworth and Remy Mathieu; sopranos Mireille Asselin, Meghan Lindsay, Cynthia Smithers, and Measha Brueggergosman-Lee; mezzo Danielle MacMillan; and bass-baritone Douglas Williams. OA Music Director David Fallis conducts the musicians of Tafelmusik.

The event will also include the full corps of Artists of Atelier Ballet, featuring dancer Eric Cesar De Mello Da Silva, and with choreography by company co-founder Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg and Atelier dancer Tyler Gledhill.

“Opera Atelier’s artistic team have long wished to explore the links between French Baroque composers such as Lully and Rameau, and their late 19th / early 20th century compatriots,” says Lajeunesse Zingg, Opera Atelier Founding Co-Artistic Director. “All Is Love showcases the latest repertoire ever explored by Tafelmusik or Opera Atelier, and broadens our perceptions of the very definition of ‘period performance.’”

“All is Love” will run on February 19 and 20, 2022, at Koerner Hall in the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning.
