By Francisco Salazar

Oper Frankfurt has announced revisions to its upcoming 2020-21 season.

The company announced that its upcoming production of “Le Grand Macabre” by Ligeti will be postponed until the 2023-24 season and will instead be replaced by “The Medium.” The production will be conducted by Sebastian Weigle and directed by Hans Walter Richter. Performances begin on Sept. 13 and run through Oct. 17. The cast will be announced at a later date.

The company also canceled the first performance of Bellini’s “I Puritani” on August 30.

Massenet’s “Werther” will also replace the originally scheduled “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk” in September. Takeshi Moriuchi will conduct the revival with a new cast to be announced. The Massenet opera will also be performed in May as originally announced.
