
One Ounce Opera Announces 8th Fresh Squeezed Ounce of Opera
By David SalazarOne Ounce Opera has announced the program for its 8th Fresh Squeezed Ounce of Opera.
The festival, which will run July 17 – 25, 2026 at dadaLab in Austin, Texas, features three micro-operas performed together on a single program.
The evening opens with “Having Guests for Dinner,” with music by Nick Bentz and libretto by Robert Ellsworth Feng. The cast features Annisha Mackenzie as Laura, Brian Minnick as Marcus, and Stephen Maus as Christoph.
The second work, “Mud Girl,” features music by Omar Najmi and a libretto by Christine Evans. Andréa Ochoa sings River, Hillary Schranze takes the role of Maude, with Avery LaRue and Anneliese Sandoval as Poly I and Poly II respectively.
The program closes with “Forever,” with music by Elizabeth Gartman and libretto by Melisa Tien and featuring Paige Patrick as The Wrapper, Lucas Hickman as The Wristband, and Liz Cass as The Tardigrade.
The production is helmed by Stage Director Julie Fiore and Music Director Joseph Choi. Matt Smith serves as Technical, Lighting, and Projections Director, with Carol Brown as Assistant Director and Monica Kurtz as Stage Manager.
