
River City Voices to Present Fauré Requiem at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Parramatta
By David SalazarRiver City Voices will present a performance of Fauré’s “Requiem” on May 29 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Parramatta, Australia.
Guest conductor Dr. Philip Eames leads the ensemble alongside assistant conductor Oscar Balle-Bowness. Soprano Ayako Ohtake and baritone Benjamin Caukwell headline the vocal soloists, with organist Simon Nieminski performing on the cathedral’s organ.
The program centers on Fauré’s “Requiem in D minor” (1890), complemented by additional choral works including Alice Chance’s “Holy Dreaming,” Brahms’ “Geistliches Lied,” Op. 30, Liszt’s “Ave verum corpus,” Joseph Romeo’s “The Lord’s Prayer” (ed. 2025), and “Padla” by First Nations composer Nicole Smede.
The concert, which is presented in association with Riverside Theatres, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. local time and has a runtime is approximately 70 minutes.
