
Off-Brand Opera Presents ‘Fanny, A Fantasy in G’
By David SalazarOff-Brand Opera has announced the world premiere of Tim McGillicuddy’s “Fanny, A Fantasy in G,” directed by George Abud.
The production, which opened on March 26 and runs through April 19, 2026 at the Gural Theatre at A.R.T./New York and Liederkranz Club, is set in Berlin in 1828 and follows Fanny Mendelssohn as she pursues her dream of becoming the first published female composer in modern Europe.
Annalisa Chamberlin leads the cast as Fanny Mendelssohn, joined by Úna Clancy as Lea Mendelssohn, Rufus Collins as Abraham Mendelssohn, Zaq Latino as Felix Mendelssohn, Alan Kelly as Charles Gounod, Joseph Pyfferoen as Heinrich Heine, and Daniel David Stewart as Wilhelm Hensel, among others.
The production features scenic design by Henry Pederson, costume design by Raul Luna, and lighting design by Sunshine de Castro.
Abud is an award-winning actor, director, and playwright whose recent credits include a new adaptation of 3Penny Opera Off-Broadway and The Ruins at the Guthrie Theater. McGillicuddy is a New York-based poet, playwright, and performer with eleven books of poetry to his name.
