By Operawire Staff

On June 21, 2023, On Site Opera will open its “Opera in the Garden” series, two nights of outdoor performances at the West Side Community Garden.

The company will return to the venue where it held their 2017 production of Mozart’s “The Secret Gardener,” with a program comprised of excerpts from “The Magic Flute” and Bizet’s “Carmen.”

Excerpts from ‘The Magic Flute” will be performed on the June 21 performance, with a cast featuring soprano Maggie Finnegan and Christina Maria Castro; mezzo JoAnna Vladyka; tenor Aaron Blake; and baritone Mario Diaz Moresco. They will be accompanied by pianist Candace Chien as well as flutists John Romeri and Ginevra Petrucci.

June 28 will see excerpts from “Carmen” performed by soprano Sara Beth Pearson, mezzo Caitlin McKechney, and tenor Chad Karanak; they will be accompanied by Chris Frisco. Both concerts will be narrated by company Artistic Director Eric Einhorn.
