Office of the Provost of Juilliard Confirms the One Student has F-1 Visa Revoked
By David SalazarThe Office of the Provost of Juilliard recently sent out an email regarding the immigration status of several students.
Per the letter, “a number of international students on F-1 visas at universities across the nation have had their visas revoked by the federal government and their SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) status terminated, often without the notice to the school or the student.”
The letter then notes that this was the case with one of the students at Juilliard, noting that “the reason for the termination remains unclear at this time.”
The email was promptly shared across social media.
Per The New York Times, nearly 300 students are facing similar situations, citing cases of over a dozen schools, including the University of California and Harvard. The Cincinnati Enquirer noted that Xavier University has reported a recent case.
Per NDTV, Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s office recently started implementing an AI-powered app called “Catch and Revoke” to “detect and cancel the visas of students found supporting Hamas or other designated terrorist organizations.”
