Obituary: Pianist Margaret Singer Dies After Long Illness

Opera pianist Margaret Singer has died after a long illness.

Singer launched her musical career as an accompanist at 12. Accompanying numerous performances of Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” during a Southwest tour, she gained invaluable experience. After studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London, she collaborated with prestigious opera companies in New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Her talent and dedication led her to serve as a Solorepetitorin at the opera company in Hannover, Germany. From her early days as an accompanist to her Fulbright grant at the Royal Academy of Music, her career thrived. She became an Assistant Conductor at the New York City Opera and collaborated with renowned opera companies in major cities.

With her extensive repertoire, Singer prepared productions under the baton of esteemed conductors and alongside distinguished stage directors.
