
Andrea Rey & Manel Esteve to Headline Opening of Otoño Musical Soriano Festival

Mezzo-soprano Andrea Rey and baritone Manel Esteve will open the 34th edition of the Otoño Musical Soriano festival on Sept. 10 at the Auditorio Odón Alonso in Soria.
They will perform alongside the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM) under conductor Alondra de la Parra, with Javier Carmena leading the chorus.
Titled “Todo Zarzuela,” the program surveys the Spanish zarzuela repertoire, featuring music by Tomás Bretón, Francisco Asenjo Barbieri, Ruperto Chapí, Jacinto Guerrero, Federico Moreno Torroba, Amadeo Vives, Gerónimo Giménez, and Pablo Sorozábal. The evening will include music from “La verbena de la Paloma,” “El barberillo de Lavapiés,” “La revoltosa,” “La rosa del azafrán,” “Doña Francisquita,” “Maravilla,” and “La del manojo de rosas.”
Rey will also performwith ORCAM and de la Parra on Sept. 12, performing in a new semi-staged production of Bizet’s “Carmen” at the Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, directed by Bárbara Lluch. Beginning Sept. 30, she will also appear in “Andrómeda y Perseo.”
