Nuevas Voces Ciudad de Sevilla Competition Announces 2021 Winners

Carmen Buendía has won the Nuevas Voces Ciudad de Sevilla competition, which was held at the Teatro del a Maestranza.

The award was given to by the Asociación Sevillana de Amigos de la Ópera after a an internse process that featured more than 60 singers.

During the competition, Buendía interpreted pieces from Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Luna’s “El niño judío.”

Javier Menéndez, president of the jury noted that she sang with a delicate technique and a mature interpretative power. The rest of the jury also included Raina Kabaivanska, Rita Cosentino, Arturo Reverter, and Sabino Lenoci.

The second place was awarded to Italian singer Giulia Della Peruta. She also took home a Special Award from the City of Seville and won the Audience Award.
