Nino Machaidze, Enea Scala & Sophie Koch Lead Opéra de Marseille’s 2021-22 Season

France’s Opera de Marseille has announced its 2021-22 season featuring seven operatic productions. Here is a look:

The season will open with Rossini’s “Guillaume Tell” starring Alexandre Duhamel, Enea Scala, and Angélique Boudeville. Michele Spotti conducts the new production by Louis Désiré.

Performance Dates: Oct. 12-20, 2021

Nino Machaidze stars in Rossini’s “Armida” alongside Enea Scala, Matteo Roma, Chuan Wang, Gillen Goicoechea, and Jérémy Duffau. José Miguel Pérez-Sierra conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 29-Nov. 5, 2021

Offenbach’s “Les Voyage dans la Lune” is set to be conducted by Pierre Dumoussaud and directed by Olivier Fredj. Violette Polchi, Sheva Tehoval, Ludivine Gombert, Cécile Galois, Koelig Boche, Erick Freulon, Christophe Poncet de Solages, Erik Vignau, and Matthieu Lécroart star.

Performance Dates: Dec. 26, 2021-Jan. 4, 2022

Petra Lang stars in Wagner’s “Die Walküre” with Sophie Koch, Béatrice Uria-Monzon, Nikolai Schukoff, Samuel Youn, and Nicolas Courjal. Lawrence Foster conducts the production by Charles Roubaud.

Performance Dates: Feb. 9-16, 2022

Thomas Bettinger sings the title role of Massenet’s “Werther” with a cast that includes Antoinette Dennefeld, Ludivine Gombert, and Marc Scoffoni. Bruno Ravella conducts the productions by Victorien Vanoosten.

Performance Dates: March 15-22, 2022

Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” will star Serenad Uyar, Amélie Robins, Julien Dran, Loïc Félix, Patrick Bolleire, Bernhard Bettermann. Paolo Arrivabeni conducts the production by Dieter Kaegi.

Performance Dates: April 19-26, 2022

The season will conclude with Verdi’s “Don Carlo” starring Marcelo Puente, Nicolas Courjal, Chiara Isotton, Varduhi Abrahamyan, Jérôme Boutillier, and Simon Lim. Paolo Arrivabeni conducts the production by Charles Roubaud.

Performance Dates: June 3-11, 2022
