New York City Opera Announces Opera In The Park

The New York City Opera has announced it will bring back Bryant Park’s highly popular free summer performing arts series.

The popular series will present three concert performances showcasing two popular operas and one concert celebrating pride month.

The series opens with Puccini’s “La Bohème” with stars of New York City Opera.

Performance Date: May 20, 2019

The second concert in the series will be “New York City Opera: Pride in the Park.” “Pride in the Park” will feature a diverse program of selections from opera and musical theater sung by stars of City Opera’s Pride Series and will include a “sneak peek” at New York City Opera’s upcoming production of Iain Bell’s “Stonewall.”

Performance Date: June 12, 2019

The final concert of the series will be Bizet’s “Carmen” in an hour-long presentation showcasing highlights from the famous work.

Performance Date: August 26, 2019

All three concerts will begin at 6 p.m. and are free to the public with no dress code, no tickets, and no lines. At each concert, the park lends out 250 free picnic blankets for audience members to spread out and relax while enjoying the Lawn. In addition, each event has beer, wine, and food for purchase.
