By Chris Ruel

New York City Master Chorale has announced its 15th Anniversary season-opening concert, “What Sweeter Music,” will be held on Dec. 19, 2021, at Saint Ignatius of Antioch Church in Manhattan.

The concert, which will be the first live performance by the Chorale since Feb. 2020, features music by Jacob Clemens non Papa, Poulenc, Rheinberger, and Richard Rodney Bennett. The concert will also be the first under the Chorale’s new Artistic Director, David J. Recca.

“The program of ‘What Sweeter Music’ is a sincere and warm-hearted look into what makes this time of year both joyous, and at times, challenging,” David J. Recca, NYC Master Chorale Artistic Director told OperaWire. “Above and beyond all else, we are deeply grateful to sing together and for a public audience once again. While it has been a long journey to get here, sharing these extraordinary works of music and poetry is a gift – one that we are eager to share and that we will never again take for granted.”

Proof of vaccination is required to attend, and audience members must wear masks while inside the venue.
