New Opera Lyra Announces 2023-24 Season

Ottawa’s New Opera Lyra has announced its second season. The opera is run by Co-Artistic Directors Suzanne Bassett and Andrew Ager.

The season opens with the National Opera Competition.

Performance Date: Oct. 14, 2023

Next up is Andrew Ager’s “The Mummy.”

Performance Date: Oct. 27 & 28, 2023

Then comes Andrew Ager’s “Scrooge’s Christmas.”

Performance Date: Dec. 9, 2023

The company will then present Andrew Ager’s new “The Great Gatsby.” It will be directed by Suzanne Bassett and conducted by Matthew Larkin.

Performance Date: April 19 & 20, 2024

The season ends with an Opera Gala featuring the Ewashko Singers.

Performance Date: June 1, 2024

Additionally, the company will present Sunday’s at 4 recitals featuring such artists as Holly Chaplin, Hyung Song, Ania Heinar, Adam Sperry, Susan Elizabeth Brown, Jennifer Olenic, Ryan Hofman, and Norman E. Brown. They will each be accompanied by Andrew Ager.

Performance Dates: Oct. 1, 2023 – May 12, 2024
