New England Conservatory Announces Winter / Spring 2022 Programming
By David SalazarNew England Conservatory has announced its Winter-Spring programming, which features hundreds of performances, masterclasses, panels, and workshops.
For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal and operatic performances.
There will be a Liederabend at Williams Hall.
Performance Date: Feb. 2, 2022
The Graduate Opera department and Philharmonic Orchestra will present “Don Pasquale” under the direction of Steven Goldstein. Robert Tweten conducts.
Performance Dates: Feb. 9 & 10, 2022
Students will presnet music by Abbey Lincoln in a showcase entitled “Nothing But the Truth: A Portrait of Abbey Lincoln.”
Performance Date: Feb. 15, 2022
There will be a second Lieberabend.
Performance Date: March 2, 2022
The Voice Department will give a concert at Williams Hall.
Performance Date: March 3, 2022
There will be a series of performances featuring opera scenes. The first showcase will focus on excerpts from operas by Cimarosa, Handel, Gretry, Hoiby, Gounod, Donizetti, and Offenbach.
Performance Date: March 10, 2022
The latter date will feature music by Mozart with the first year Master students.
Performance Date: March 11, 2022
The NEC Chamber Singers and Chamber Ensemble under Erica J. Washburn will perform Craig Hella Johnson’s “Considering Matthew Shepard.”
Performance Date: March 17, 2022
There will be a concert celebrating the music of Astor Piazzolla. Soprano Yelena Dudochkin is among the featured performers.
Performance Date: April 3, 2022
Another Lieberabend will take place at Williams Hall.
Performance Date: April 6, 2022
The NEC Philharmonia and Choirs will take on music by Bartok and Shostakovich. Erica J. Washburn and Hugh Wolff conduct.
Performance Date: April 20, 2022
The Graduate department will present three operas.
First up will be “An America Dream.”
Performance Date: April 21-24, 222
Next will be “Dido and Aeneas.”
Performance Date: April 21-24, 2022
Finally, audiences will see “L’Enfante et les Sortilèges.”
Performance Date: April 23 & 24, 2022
There will be a program entitled “Marcel Proust and the Mélodie: A Fin-De-Siècle Soirée” featuring music by Debussy, Fauré, and Cécile Chaminade, among others.
Performance Date: April 24, 2022
The NEC Wind Ensemble and NEC Choirs will take on music by Stravinsky, Brubeck, Liu, and Gulda. Erica J. Washburn and Charles Peltz conduct.
Performance Date: April 28, 2022
The NEC Chamber Singers will perform music Stravinsky’s “Les Noces” in a program that also includes Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet.
Performance Date: May 2, 2022
