Naxos UK has announced that it will now be distributing recordings from the Bayerische Staatsoper.

This news follows the Bayerische Staatsoper’s recent revelation that it would be launching its own record label, BSOrec.

Per a press release, all global physical and digital distribution of the recording label will be operated by NAXOS Music Group.

BSOrec’s first recording will be Kirill Petrenko’s interpretation of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 7. Other recordings audiences will get to check out include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 led by Vladimir Jurowski and Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 led by Zubin Mehta.

As for opera lovers, first up will be a 2019 video recording of “Die Tote Stadt” starring Jonas Kaufmann and Marlis Petersen directed by Simon Stone and conducted by Petrenko. The label will also release Abrahamsen’s “The Snow Queen” starring Barbara Hannigan, conducted by Cornelius Meister in a production by Andreas Kriegenburg as well as Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” in a production by Barrie Kosky starring Marlis Petersen and Samantha Hankey conducted by Jurowski.
