National Symphony Orchestra to Present the Messiah
By Francisco SalazarThe National Symphony Orchestra has announced that it will perform “The Messiah” for the holiday season.
The piece will be performed on Dec. 19, 20, 21, and 22, 2024, and will be conducted by Masaaki Suzuki at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.
Suzuki is a baroque specialist who is the founder of Bach Collegium Japan and the performances at the Kennedy Center will mark his NSO debut.
Soloists will include soprano Jone Martínez, countertenor Reginald Mobley, tenor Lunga Eric Hallam, and bass-baritone Dashon Burton, all in their NSO debuts, with the University of Maryland Concert Choir directed by Jason Max Ferdinand.
The Messiah is part of the NSO’s holiday offerings which will also include “Elf: the Musical,” and “A Holiday Pops!” with Jessica Vosk.
