National Symphony Orchestra Concert Affected Again Due to Trump’s Takeover
By Francisco SalazarThe National Symphony Orchestra has once again been affected by the President Trump and his hostile takeover of the John F. Kennedy for the Performing Arts.
This time prominent violinist Hilary Hahn and cellist Seth Parker Woods have withdrawn from their concerts on March 12, 13, and 14.
Woods took to social media and said, “We chose to withdraw form our concerts at the Kennedy Center this March. We are sorry to not be with our friends and colleagues at the National Symphony Orchestra and hope to perform with them again in the future.”
The two soloists were set to perform the world premiere of Carlos Simon’s Double Concerto Suite for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra. Now the orchestra has given the two solo parts to National Symphony Orchestra Associate Concertmaster Ying Fu and National Symphony Orchestra Assistant Principal Cello Raymond Tsai.
Hahn and Woods are the latest soloists to withdraw from the National Symphony Orchestra following Renee Fleming and Bela Fleck.
The National Symphony Orchestra has repeatedly said it refuses to leave the Kennedy Center for the moment but will have to look for a new venue once Trump closes it for renovation on July 5, 2026.
