National Symphony Orchestra Audience Boos JD Vance; Ric Grenell Blames Democrats

Audiences at the Kennedy Center are voicing their opinions of the new administration with loud boos.

On Thursday evening, as Vice President JD Vance and his wife and board member of the Kennedy Center Usha Vance took a seat to hear the National Symphony Orchestra, audience members met him with boos.

Crowds could be heard booing and jeering the vice president, and some were even heard saying, “You ruined this place!” Vance and his wife were visibly seen smiling and waving to the crowd.

Ironically the program was Gianandrea Noseda conducting Leonidas Kavakos in Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 2 and Igor Stravinsky’s “Petrushka.” Shostakovich was known for his complicated relationship with the Soviet Union and for having had many of his works censored by the Russian government for attacking the government.

In response to the boos, the Interim President  Ric Grenell attacked Democrats on social media stating, “The intolerant Left are radicals who can’t even sit in the same room with people that don’t vote like they do. What has happened to today’s Democrats? They are so intolerant.” However, the audience did not give their party affiliation nor was it known who booed Vance.

Since the Kennedy Center was taken over by President Trump’s loyalists, ticket sales have collapsed with many shows being canceled and audiences boycotting the arts center.
