Natalie Dessay, Aleksandra Kurzak, Samuel Ramey & Ramón Vargas Headline San Francisco Opera’s Opera is On Streaming Series

The San Francisco Opera will continue its Opera is On series starting Oct. 31 and running through Nov. 29, 2020.

The month begins with San Francisco Opera’s 2008 presentation of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” starring Natalie Dessay, Giuseppe Filianoti, Gabriele Viviani, and Oren Gradus. The production is directed by Graham Vick and Jean-Yves Ossonce conducts. 

Streaming Dates: Oct. 31-Nov. 1, 2020

The series continues with San Francisco Opera’s 2014 production of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera.” The opera stars Julianna Di Giacomo, Thomas Hampson, Ramón Vargas, Heidi Stober, Dolora Zajick, Efraín Solís, and Christian Van Horn. Jose Maria Condemi directs the production with Nicola Luisotti conducting.

Streaming Dates: Nov. 7–8, 2020

San Francisco Opera’s 2008 presentation of Modest Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov” was the Company’s first staging of the composer’s seven-scene, original 1869 version of the political drama. The historical production stars Samuel Ramey in the title role, John Uhlenhopp, Vitalij Kowaljow, and Vladimir Ognovenko, among others. Vassily Sinaisky conducts Stein Winge’s production,

Streaming Dates: Nov. 14-15, 2020

Željko Lučić, Aleksandra Kurzak, Francesco Demuro, Kendall Gladen, and Robert Pomakov highlight the 2012 production of Verdi’s “Rigoletto.” The production by Harry Silverstein is conducted by Nicola Luisotti.

Streaming Dates: Nov. 21-22, 2020

The month ends with the 2008 production of “L’Elisir d’Amore” starring Ramón Vargas, Inva Mula, Giorgio Caoduro, and Alessandro Corbelli. Bruno Campanella conducts the production by James Robinson.
