Lisette Oropesa & Lawrence Brownlee Lead New ‘I Puritani’ at the Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera is set to present a new production of Bellini’s “I Puritani.”

This will make the first new staging of the opera in 50 years with Charles Edwards directing the new production. Edwards known for his stage and set designs and previously created scenery for four Met productions by David McVicar.

Lisette Oropesa and Lawrence Brownlee will lead the cast with Artur Ruciński and Christian Van Horn rounding out the cast. Marco Armiliato conducts the production.

The production will open on Dec. 31, 2025 and will run through Jan. 18, 2026. The Jan. 10 performance will be transmitted live to movie theaters around the globe as part of the Met’s Live in HD series. The performances on December 31 and January 10 will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio.
