Nashville Opera to Use New Grant for Outreach & Inclusion Initiatives

By Logan Martell

Nashville Opera has announced that it has been selected to receive a grant from the South Arts Resilience Fund for $10,000.

The company plans to use the grant to support its Nashville Opera Big Blue Fellowship Program, the Opera on Wheels education and outreach initiative, as well as strategic planning initiatives on matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The South Arts Resilience Fund, supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, works to bring aid to small and mid-level companies region-wide as they deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and helps them to endure until theaters reopen.

“We are grateful to South Arts and to the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for providing us with this crucial support,” writes CEO and Artistic Director John Hoomes. I believe that innovative art is more important than ever, and this grant will assist us in bringing impactful programming to the region and ensuring a sustainable and equitable future for our organization.”
