Musica Viva NY to Present ‘The Sorrow and the Beauty’

Musica Viva NY is set to present “The Sorrow and the Beauty” starting on March 12, 2023, at All Souls Church in New York City.

The showcase, which kicks off at 5 p.m. local time, will feature performances of Arvo Pärt’s “The Beatitudes” for choir and organ; David Lang’s “The Little Match Girl Passion” for choir and percussion; Caleb Burhan’s “Super Flumina Babylonis” for choir, viola, cello, celesta, and percussion; and Eric Whitacre’s “Cloudburst” for choir, piano, and percussion.

The program also features instrumental works by Pärt and Caroline Shaw.

Musica Viva NY is also set to showcase “Lux Aeterna” on May 21, 2022, which will feature choral and instrumental works by Jessie Montgomery, Judith Bingham, Schubert, Richard Einhorn, and Morten Lauridsen.
