Musica Sacra Announces 2024-25 Season

Musica Sacra has announced the 2024-25 concert season led by Music Director Kent Tritle.

Musica Sacra’s season begins with “Radiant Dialogues,” a program led by Kent Tritle that begins with J. S. Bach’s motet “Komm, Jesu, komm” and ends with John Tavener’s Svyati, a dialogue for choir and cello with text from the Russian Orthodox service.

Performance Dates: Oct 16, 2024, at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola

The second concert of the season includes music by Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach. The concert will also feature Christmas motets by Poulenc, Lauridsen, Bassi, and Biebl. Susanna Phillips is the soloist.

Performance Dates: Dec. 18, 2024, at Carnegie Hall

The season concludes with “SurRound II,” an immersive concert in 360° in the candlelit Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The audience, seated in the Great Choir stalls and floor, will experience a program of medieval, Renaissance, and contemporary works as the singers move throughout the cathedral.

The program includes music by Gregorio Allegri and John Tavener as well as Adolphus Hailstork, Sarah McDonald, William Dawson, Perotin, Joanna Forbes L’Estrange, Heinrich Schütz, and Morton Lauridsen.

Performance Dates: April 1, 2025, at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine
