Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s 2018 Concert Gets PBS Broadcast Dates

By David Salazar

A year ago, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir presented Sutton Foster and Hugh Bonneville at its annual concert “Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.” Those who were unable to make it to Salt Lake City for the performance will get a chance to view the concert via PBS and BYUtv.

The 60-minute version of the performance will appear on Monday, Dec. 17 at 9 p.m. ET via PBS. BYUtv will broadcast a 90-minute version of the show a few days later on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at 8 p.m. ET.

The organization presents “Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir” every December and has featured a number of well-known opera stars including Renée Fleming, Bryn Terfel, Frederica Von Stade, Deborah Voigt, and Rolando Villazón. The 2016 edition of the concert featured Villazón and the first PSB broadcast from 2004 stared Von Stade and Terfel.

“Each guest brings their distinctive gifts and talents, and this program is uniquely special thanks to Sutton’s immense vocal artistry and sparkling personality paired with Hugh’s charismatic delivery and stage presence,” noted music director Mack Wilberg in reference to the 2017 concert. “For the past 15 years on PBS, with 15 unique performances, it has become a sought-after family tradition to enjoy this Christmas institution, and we’re thrilled that through our relationships with BYUtv and WGBH we can share this remarkable gift with audiences around the world.”

The 2018 edition will feature Kristen Chenoweth.
