
Michael Weinius, Martina Dike, & Nicholas Brownlee Star in ‘Parsifal’ at Cēsis Art Festival
By Afton MarkayThe Cēsis Art Festival is set to present a concert production of Richard Wagner’s “Parsifal.”
Tenor Michael Weinius takes on the title role. He is joined by mezzo-soprano Martina Dike as Kundry, Stephen Milling as Gurnemanz, bass-baritone Nicholas Brownlee as Amfortas, bass-baritone Oleksandr Pushniak in the role of Klingsor, and bass Edgars Ošleja as Titurel. Marlēna Keine, Ilze Grēvele-Skaraine, Gunta Gelgote, Tatiana Trenogina, Inna Klochko, Irma Pavāre, Artem Safronov, Edgars Auniņš, and Viesturs Vītols round out the cast.
Tarmo Peltokoski conducts the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and Latvija State Choir. Visual elements are provided by Dāvis Sīmanis.
The performance is scheduled for Aug. 9, at 4 p.m. The Cēsis Concert Hall hosts.
