The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season will continue with Bellini’s “I Puritani” on Jan. 10, 2026.
The company will showcase the first new production of this opera in nearly 50 years and will feature soprano Lisette Oropesa as Elvira, opposite tenor Lawrence Brownlee as Arturo.
They will be joined by baritone Artur Ruciński as Riccardo and bass-baritone Christian Van Horn as Giorgio. Maestro Marco Armiliato conducts.
The new production marks Charles Edwards’s Met directorial debut and the creative team will include costume designer Gabrielle Dalton, lighting designer Tim Mitchell, and movement director Tim Claydon.
“I Puritani” has been performed only 63 times since its first Met performance in 1883, when it was included in the first week of the company’s inaugural season. It was previously featured in the Met’s Live in HD series starring Anna Netrebko.
Habib Azar will direct the Live in HD presentation for cinemas, and soprano Ailyn Pérez will host the transmission, sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interviews during intermission.
