Metropolitan Opera Announces New Cast Change for ‘Un Ballo in Maschera’

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a new cast change for its production of “Un Ballo in Maschera.”

The company noted that Liv Redpath will replace Nina Minasyan in the role of Oscar.

Redpath made her Met debut in 2021 with the Met Orchestra Chamber Ensemble at Carnegie Hall. This season she is also set to perform Pamina in “The Magic Flute” at the Metropolitan Opera and the title role of “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Royal Opera House, among others.

The soprano has performed at the LA Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper, Santa Fe Opera, and Cincinnati Opera.

Redpath is set to join a cast that includes Angela Meade, Quinn Kelsey, Olesya Petrova, and Charles Castronovo. Carlo Rizzi conducts.

“Un Ballo in Maschera” is set to open on Oct. 20 and runs through Nov. 11, 2023.
