The Metropolitan Opera has added a new cast member to its production of “Il Trovatore.”

The company announced that Gwyn Hughes-Jones will sing the final performances of the run on Dec. 3 and 6, 2024.

Hughes-Jones performed the role of Manrico at the Met in 2012 and critics stated, “Hughes-Jones sang with ardent muscle.” The tenor made his Met debut in 2001 as Ismaele in “Nabucco” and sang Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly” with the company in 2014. Hughes-Jones has also performed with the Washington National Opera, Welsh National Opera, English National Opera, and Royal Opera House.

The tenor is set to join a cast that includes Angela Meade, Igor Golavatenko, Ryan Speedo Green, and Olesya Petrova. Daniele Callegari conducts the production by David McVicar. “Il Trovatore” opens on Oct. 26 with Michael Fabiano, Jamie Barton, and Rachel Willis-Sørensen.
