Mesopotamia Opera Company to Present ‘The Italian Lesson’

Mesopotamia Opera Company (MOC) will present its new production, “The Italian Lesson,” with words and music by Peter Wing Healey, on June 9 – 17, 2023.

The event will take place at The Highland Park Ebell Club in Los Angeles, CA.

The opera was written for piano, violin, cello and percussion and is set to feature soprano Christa Marie Stevens and Brooke Iva Lohman; mezzo-soprano Jessica Mamey; tenors Xavier Prado and Marco Antonio Lozano; baritones Eric Castro, Matthew Ian Welch; and bass-baritone Norge Yip. James Lent and Milos Veljkovic conduct.

MOC is a lyric theater, non-profit organization founded in 1985, by Peter Wing Healey, who was trained on the piano from the age of six, eventually working in large opera houses, and interpreting the best-known works worldwide. As a composer, he writes neoclassical music and has presented his operas in New York and Los Angeles.

The aim of MOC is to create work and employment with live performances, with expressive techniques of performing arts, such as dance, singing, recitation and all related arts.
