Merola Opera Program to Present Summer Festival Grand Finale at Golden Gate Park Bandshell

On July 31, 2021, audiences can see the opera stars of tomorrow in a free, outdoor performance when Merola Opera Program presents its 2021 Summer Festival Merola Grand Finale at the Golden Gate Park Bandshell.

The concert will feature 27 artists who have been selected from over 800 international applicants, and will be directed by Merola Stage Director Audrey Chait. The program will include selections of duets, quartets, ensembles, and more, from a number of works such as “Carmen,” “L’elisir d’amore,” “Don Giovanni,” “The Rake’s Progress,” “Semele,” “Romeo et Juliette,” Faust,” “Pagliacci,” “Rigoletto,” “Beatrice et Benedict,” and more. The vocalists will be accompanied by this year’s cohort of pianists.

Participants include sopranos Emily Blair, Catherine Goode, Magdalena Kuzma, Celeste Morales, Ashley Marie Robillard, Johanna Will, and Mikayla Sager; mezzos Gabrielle Barkidjija, Gabrielle Beteag, Jesse Mashburn, and Nikola Printz; bass-baritones Ben Brady and Andrew Dwan; baritones Thomas Lynch, Samson McCrady, and Laureano Quant; tenors Gabriel Hernandez, Philippe L’Esperance, Victor Cardamore, Edward Graves, and Tianchi Zhang; and pianists Bryan Banowetz, Erica Xiaoyan Guo, Anna Smigelskaya, Shiyu Tan, and Marika Yasuda.

The concert will be recorded and made available for streaming to Merola members on August 20 and the general public on Sepetmber 3, 2021.
