Mécénat Musica Program Reaches $111,000,000 in Permanent Capital for Quebec Cultural Organizations

The Mécénat Musica program announced that with more than 700 major donations from individuals and families it has now created the permanent capital of $111,000,000 for Quebec cultural organizations.

This goal creates annual revenues of $5,500,000 (5%) for Quebec culture, to ensure its autonomy and financial security, now and for generations to come. The 50 Quebec cultural organizations employs more than 5,000 artists annually, particularly in the fields of music, festivals, theatre, museums, visual arts, and dance.

Musica Patronage is a unique cultural program created by and for donors for donors. Mécénat Musica encourages individuals to make a perpetual gift of $25,000 to a cultural organization that is important to them (after tax credits, net cost of only A $5,435) and invites donor families to make a gift of $250,000 or $2,500,000 to match these individual gifts.

In a press release Mécénat Musica acknowledged Mécénat Musica Patrons-in-Residence, Dr. Sharon Azrieli CQ, whose leadership and collaboration made it possible to add 50 major Mécénat Musica donors for 14 cultural organizations from 2016 to 2025, as well as Jacques Marchand and Marie-Christine Tremblay, whose collaboration made it possible to find more than 100 major Mécénat Musica donors for 23 Quebec cultural organizations from 2019 to 2025. The Foundation of Greater Montreal, the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal, and the Fondation Québec Philanthrope also collaborated in the program.

Mécénat Musica recognized the individuals and families who have made more than 700 major donations, as well. These donors include members of the Order of Canada and the National Order of Quebec, entrepreneurs/businesses, members of boards of directors of cultural organizations, retirees, musicians and artists, health professionals, investment managers, accountants, artistic directors, lawyers, engineers, teachers and 80 families with 2 to 6 members.

These donations mark a major shift in cultural philanthropy.
