MassOpera Announces Virtual Fundraising Concert on Mother’s Day
By David SalazarMassOpera has announced that it will be showcasing a fundraising event on May 10, 2020.
The event, entitled “Mother’s Day Songs and Shout-Outs” will air on the company’s YouTube channel starting at 4 p.m. The free virtual concert will star soprano Rachele Scmiege, tenor Stefan Barner, mezzo-soprano Vera Savage, tenor Giovanni Formisano, and soprano Dana Lynn Varga.
Scmiege is a full-time chorister at the Metropolitan Opera while Barner has performed with MassOpera and Raylynmor Opera; Savage has been a soloist with Boston Lyric Opera while Gormisano has performed local concerts throughout the Boston aria; Varga is the Founder and Co-Artistic Director of MassOpera.
Per a press release, the company has set a goal of $5,000 in donations, which will be matched twice; that would provide the company with a potential $15,000 donation toward its 2020-21 season. For $250, sponsors will get to choose a singer and song that will be performed; the singer will also send a special message to a loved one as par of its “shout-outs.”
