Maria Brea & Susan Platts Headline Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s Mahler Symphony No. 2 ‘Resurrection’

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra is set to present Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 on April 22, 2023.

Conductor Earl Lee will conduct the performance, which will take place at UMS Choral Union at Hill Auditorium. The performance, which kicks off at 8 p.m. will feature soprano Maria Brea alongside mezzo-soprano Susan Platts.

The showcase will also feature a performance of Brahms’ “Hungarian Dance No. 1 in G minor.”

There will a pre-concert talk with Earl Lee and Scott Hanioan starting at 7 p.m.

In 2022-23, Brea has performed with such organizations as the Oratorio Society of New York, the Tuscon Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and the North / South Chamber Orchestra, among others. She is also set to appear in Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra on May 3, 2023.

Platts has performed at Covent Garden, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro di San Carlo, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center as well as with the Philadelphia, Cleveland and Minnesota Orchestras, Orchestre de Paris, London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Montreal, Toronto, American, Detroit, Milwaukee, Baltimore and Houston Symphonies, Les Violons du Roy, Boston’s Handel and Haydn Society, as well as the Los Angeles and St. Paul Chamber Orchestras.
