Major Cast Change in Paris Opera’s ‘Cendrillon’

By David Salazar

There will be a cast change in tonight’s performance of “Cendrillon” at the Opéra National de Paris.

Samantha Hankey will step into the role of Prince Charmant, taking over for Anna Stephany. This performance represents Hankey’s company debut.

She joins a cast starring Tara Erraught, Daniela Barcellona, Kathleen Kim, Charlotte Bonnet, Marion Lebègue, Lionel Lhote, Philippe Rouillon, Cyrille Lovighi, Olivier Ayault, and Vadim Artamonov. Carlo Rizzi conducts.

This is the second time a singer steps into the role of the Prince during this run. On April 10, Antoinette Dennefeld took on the role.

The opera will run for five more performances through April 28, 2022.

Hankey is set to perform in a production of “Der Rosenkavalier” at the Bayerische Staatsoper, followed by a recital at Wigmore Hall.
