Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Cancels Performance of ‘Doktor Faust’

The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has canceled a performance of “Doktor Faust.”

The company said that the performance on Feb. 19 has been canceled and that it will inform ticket holders with more information as soon as possible.

Additionally, the Maggio Musicale said that for all performances conductor Cornelius Meister would replace the originally announced Ingo Metzmacher.

“Doktor Faust” is set to star Dietrich Henschel, Wilhelm Schwinghammer, Daniel Brenna, Joseph Dahdah, Olga Bezsmertna, and Florian Stern. The cast will be rounded out by Martin Piskorski, Marian Pop, Lukasz Konieczny, Marcell Bakonyi, Dominic Barberi, Zachary Wilson, Martin Piskorski, Franz Gürtelschmied, Florian Stern, and Ewandro Stenzowski.

“Docktor Faust” will be performed four times between Feb. 7 and 21, 2023.
