By David Salazar

Madison Avenue Baptist Church (MABC) is set to present “Songs of Eurasia,” an evening of vocal music celebrating traditions from across the Eurasian region, as part of the MABC Emerging Artists Program.

The concert is set to take place at OPERA America in New York City on Feb. 13, 2026 at 7 p.m. local time and features vocal works by composers from Mongolia, the Uyghur region, Ukraine, China, and Taiwan.

Featured artists include mezzo-sopranos Narentsetseg Ren and Yi-Chun Sarah Tsai, sopranos Nina Mutalifu and Kristina Bombara, and bass Jiayi George Baolin.

“In a time when fear and uncertainty weigh heavily on our world, we hope this concert—featuring songs from across Eurasia—offers a moment of reflection, connection, and hope,” said Aza Sydykov, Music Director of MABC and pianist for this performance.  “Eurasia is the birthplace of some of humanity’s most ancient civilizations, including Indigenous American, Indo-European, East Asian, and many other cultures… As a Kyrgyz-American, I am deeply proud of my heritage—one shaped by ancient Scythian-Siberian, Hunnic, and Turkic – Mongolic traditions. This rich cultural inheritance gives me the confidence to help lead meaningful intercultural dialogue through artistic programming that reflects my values and lived experience. MABC, a community where all are welcomed and affirmed, is the ideal partner for presenting this concert.  Its commitment to universal love, inclusion, and shared humanity aligns seamlessly with the spirit and purpose of ‘Songs of Eurasia’ project.”
