
Heartbeat Opera Adds Five Performances of ‘MANON!’
By David SalazarHeartbeat Opera has announced that it has added five performances of its forthcoming production of “MANON!”
In sum, there will now be 14 performances of the new 100-minute English-language adaptation of Massenet’s 1884 opera. The run of the work opens on Jan. 28 and runs through Feb. 15 at The Space at Irondale.
“MANON!” features a new English book and lyrics by Jacob Ashworth and director Rory Pelsue as well as new arrangements by Music Director Dan Schlosberg.
The opera stars Emma Grimsley as Manon, Matt Dengler as the Chevalier Des Grieux, Glenn Seven Allen as Guillot, Jamari Darling as Lescaut, Justin Lee Miller as the Count Des Grieux, Katie McCreary as Pousette, and Natalie Walker as Javotte.
The company did also announce that the performance on Jan. 27 was canceled due to weather-related safety concerns and technical delays.
