Lydia Grindatto Wins First Prize in the 2025 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition

Soprano Lydia Grindatto has won first place in the 2025 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition.

Grindatto took home the top prize of $15,000. Coming in second place was tenor Ben Reisinger, along with mezzo-soprano Madeleine Lyon in third, baritone Paul Jang fourth, and soprano Sunwoo Park in fifth. Bass Michael Mensha took home the Encouragement Grant. Other grant recipients are tenor Alec Carlson, baritone Benjamin Dickerson, mezzo-soprano Anna Kelly, and soprano Magdalena Kuzma.

Preliminaries were held in New York in Feb. of this year, with semi-finals taking place in Los Angeles in March. The final round of competition and awards ceremony were held in Los Angeles on May 18.

The Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition is open to applicants ages 21 – 35 who are citizens or lawful residents of the United States or Canada. Previous winners include sopranos Nadine Sierra and Karoline Podolak, and tenors Michael Fabiano, Alasdair Kent, and SeokJong Baek.
