Los Angeles Children’s Chorus to Present Spring Concert on Mother’s Day Weekend

The Los Angeles Children’s Chorus (LACC) will present its annual spring concert on Mother’s Day Weekend.

The showcase will be shared across two performances, with the first on May 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Pasadena and the latter set for May 11 at the Pasadena Presbyterian Church. Both shows have 7 p.m. start times.

LACC Artistic Director Fernando Malvar-Ruiz will conduct both shows, leading the Chorale and Chamber Singers. Meanwhile, Fred Meads, the LACC Associate Artistic Director Fred Mears will conduct the Intermediate Choir in the May 10 concert. Finally, Dr. Steven Kornauer will be charged with leading the Young Men’s Ensemble, while Eric Lifland conducts the Apprentice Choir in the May 11 showcase.

The Intermediate Choir opens the program with music by Frank and Naissoo, among others. Then the Chamber Singers will feature music by Kodály, Orbán, and Herrymann, among others. Fauré, Passereau, Arcadelt, des Prez, and Händel comprise the Chorale program, while the Concert Choir showcases a selection of works by Orbán, Mendelssohn, Childs, Osuna, and Gabriel. Finally, the Combined Choirs perform songs by Bettini and MacGillivray.
