Los Angeles Children’s Chorus is set to present its Winter Concert, “Celebrating Joy.”

Some 400 choristers from six of the chorus’ ensembles will perform under the baton of Artistic Director Fernanco Malvar-Ruiz.  Eric Lifland, Associate Artistic Director Fred Meads, and Dr. Steven Kronauer also conduct.

The program, which varies for the two concerts, includes an array of carols, seasonal songs, and winter-themed works. Among the highlights are selections from Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols,” Felix Mendelssohn’s “There Shall A Star From Jacob Come Forth,” Johannes Brahms “Ave Maria,” and Jake Narverud’s “Lunar Lullaby.” Also featured are an assortment of Welsh, Nigerian, and French folk songs and works by J.S. Bach, Eric William Barnum, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Petr Eben, Rafael Isaza, Kirke Mechem, Robert Schumann, Randall Thompson, Lyn Williams, and more.

The Los Angeles Children’s Chorus first performance is to take place at First United Methodist Church in Pasadena, on Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. The following day Pasadena Presbyterian Church hosts the 7 p.m. concert.
