L’Opéra Royal du Maroc Announces Inaugural Gala
By Francisco SalazarDavid Serero has announced the inaugural gala of L’Opéra Royal du Maroc.
The gala will be held on Nov. 30 at the Studio des Arts in Casablanca and will feature such artists as Serero, Hila Fahima Ruschin, Victor Dahhani, Ahlima Mhamdi, and Audelia Zagury. The program will include opera arias.
In a press statement, Serero noted, “the mission of the Royal Opera of Morocco is to develop and promote Opera within the Kingdom of Morocco, to ensure the training of future Moroccan opera singers who will perform the greatest works of operas, to create lyrical works in the rich Moroccan dialect more commonly known as Darija.”
He added, “The Troupe of the Royal Opera of Morocco will be created and composed of Moroccan lyrical artists under the artistic direction of David Serero. An opera season will combine the major works of the lyric repertoire in the original language (such as French and Italian), some adapted in Darija and/or in a Moroccan staging and production, and the creation of original works in Darija by Moroccan composers commissioned for the Royal Opera of Morocco. World Tour to promote Moroccan opera singers, and partnership with various opera houses throughout the world.”
