Little Opera & San Francisco Conservatory of Music To Showcase Operas of Elementary School Students

By David Salazar

Little Opera and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music are collaborating to showcase the operas of elementary school students in San Francisco at a Benefit Concert on April 7, 2019. The performance starts at 3:30 p.m. local time.

Per a press release, the young students have been working on these operas since the beginning of the school year and will now get a chance to see them showcased live with the help of some graduate students from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

“Little Opera is particularly great because it encourages us to try to figure things out on our own, but also gives a great amount of support, so we feel confident,” said Graduate student and Little Opera intern, Cristina Lanz in a press release.

Little Opera was founded in 2011 and is an after-school program that makes operas with children. Students generally work alongside teaching artists for over 130 hours in nine months to create a 10-20-minute opera from start to finish.
