
Lisette Oropesa, Michael Volle & Diana Damrau Highlight Opernhaus Zürich’s 2020-21 Season

Premiere
Michael Volle sings the title role in a new production of Mussorgky’s “Boris Godunov” by Barrie Kosky. Lina Dambrauskaité, Irène Friedli, John Daszak, Konstantin Shushakov, Brindley Sherratt, Edgaras Montvidas, Oksana Volkova, Johannes Martin Kränzle, and Wenwei Zhang also star. Kirill Karabits conducts.

Helden von Wolfgang Mitterer’s “Das tapfere Schneiderlein” is set to be conducted by Ann-Katrin Stöcker in a new production by Kai Anne Schuhmacher. The opera stars Nathan Haller, Ziyi Dai, Erica Petrocelli, Xiaomeng Zhang, Yannick Debus, Ruben Drole, Yuriy Hadzetskyy, and Marius Kob.
Performance Dates: Sept. 20, 2020-Jan. 31, 2021
Pergolesi’s “L’Olimpiade” is set to conducted by Ottavio Dantone and directed by David Marton. Carlo Allemano, Sophie Junker, Anna Bonitatibus, Vivica Genaux, Thomas Erlank, and Delphine Galou star.

Pierangelo Valtinoni’s “Alice im Wunderland” is set to star Sandra Hamaoui and Lina Dambrauskaité in the title role. Ruben Drole, Gary Martin, Andrei Skliarenko, Valeriy Murga, Andrew Moore, Kjell Brutscheidt, Irène Friedli, Christina Müller, Omer Kobiljak, Nathan Haller, and Daniel Hajdu. Michael Richter conducts the new production by Nadja Loschky

Fabio Luisi conducts a new production of Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” directed by Andreas Homoki. The cast includes Christian Gerhaher in the title role, Jennifer Rowley, Christof Fischesser, and Otar Jorjikia.

Johannes Pölzgutter directs a new production of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” with Alasdair Kent, Paolo Bordogna, Aigul Akhmetshina, Konstantin Shushakov, Dean Murphy, and Wenwei Zhang. Georg Petrou conducts.

Gluck’s “Orphée et Euridice” stars Nadezhda Karyazina and Chiara Skerath in the title roles. Christoph Marthaler directs the new production with Alice Duport-Percier rounding out the cast as Amour.

Roman Haubenstock-Ramati’s “Amerika” gets a new production by Sebastian Baumgarten. The cast includes Paul Curievici, Robert Pomakov, Mojca Erdmann, Ruben Drole, Allison Cook, and Irène Friedli. Sebastian Baumgarten directs the new production.

Antonino Fogliani conducts a new production of Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” directed by Andreas Homoki. Saimir Pirgu sings the title role, Alexandra Kadurina as the Muse, Katrina Galka as Olympia, Ekaterina Bakanova as Antonia, Lauren Fagan as Giulleta, and Andrew Foster-Williams as the four villains.
