By David Salazar

Les Arts Florissants is set to make its first appearance at BAM since 2019 with three performances of “A Merry French Christmas” from Dec. 5–7, 2025.

Founder and co-musical director William Christie leads the Orchestra and Choir in a program of sacred music by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, featuring the “Messe de Minuit pour Noël,” based on the melodies of 10 French Christmas carols, and the “Pastorale de Noël,” a lyrical recounting of the Nativity story.

The performances, set for Friday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m., will feature soprano Emmanuelle De Negri, tenor Bastien Rimondi, and bass Alex Rosen.

Les Arts Florissants has appeared regularly at BAM since its 1989 debut with Lully’s “Atys.” Since then, they have presented such works as Rameau’s “Castor et Pollux” and “Les Boréades;” Händel’s “Orlando;” Campra’s “Les Fêtes vénitiennes;” and Charpentier’s “David et Jonathas.”
