The Palm Beach Opera has revealed its 2019-2020 season featuring three mainstage operas and an added production starring the company’s artists in residence.

In a press statement, general director Daniel Biaggi said, “We are thrilled to bring ‘Hansel and Gretel’ to Delray Beach’s intimate Crest Theatre, and present our rising artists in residence, who often go on to sing at opera houses around the world, to another lively and arts-thriving community in South Florida. This opportunity also provides our artists in training with an additional on-stage experience, further preparing them for successful careers and fulfilling our mission to support new voices in opera.”

The season opens with Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” featuring the company’s Benenson Young Artists and Apprentice Artists, a full orchestra, and an imaginative set made entirely out of paper.

Performance Dates: Dec. 6-8, 2019

Palm Beach Opera will present Giacomo Puccini’s “Turandot” as its first mainstage opera of the season featuring sopranos Alexandra Loutsion and Alexandra LoBianco in the title role, tenors Stefano La Colla and Hovhannes Ayvazyan as Calaf, and soprano Leah Crocetto as Liù.

The opera will be conducted by the company’s chief conductor David Stern and directed by Keturah Stickann in his company debut.

Performance Dates: Jan. 24-26, 2020

Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will return to the stage conducted by David Stern and directed by Joshua Major in a Palm Beach Opera debut. The cast is led by Daniela Mack, Andrew Manea, Taylor Stayton, and Misha Kiria.

There will also be a “Children’s Performance: The Barber of Seville,” which will be a 60-minute abridged family-friendly version of the opera.

Performance Dates: Feb. 28-March 1, 2020

The season concludes with Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” featuring Michael Chioldi as Onegin,  Svetlana Aksenova in the role of Tatiana, and Dmitry Korchak as Lensky.
