Landestheater Detmold Appoints New Music Director

Swedish conductor Per-Otto Johansson has been named the General Music Director at the Landestheater Detmold in Germany.

Johansson’s contract will run for four years.

In a statement, Artistic Director Georg Heckel said, “I am pleased that in Per-Otto Johansson I have gained a proven outstanding musician for the Landestheater Detmold, who will contribute to the further development of the Landestheater with his integrative personality.”

Johansson has worked in Sweden and Denmark with leading orchestras such as the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and at the Royal Opera in Stockholm and the Royal Opera in Copenhagen. He is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen and worked under Kurt Sanderling, Manfred Honeck, Leif Segerstam, and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
