The UK’s Regents Opera is set to return to York Hall in 2026 with a new staging of Richard Strauss’ “Salome.”

The production will be conducted by Artistic Director Ben Woodward and directed by playwright and director Mark Ravenhill, who sets it in the historic East End boxing venue.

“After the monumental scale of the Ring Cycle, we wanted to create something equally ambitious but more visceral—an experience that immerses audiences in the heart of the action,” said Woodward per an official press release. “’Salome’ is as shocking today as it was at its premiere, and our production will deliver audiences directly to its beating heart.”

The title role will be headlined by sopranos Kirsty Taylor-Stokes and Eleanor Dennis, alongside Holden Madagame and Robin Whitehouse as Herodes, and Oliver Gibbs and Freddie Tong as Jokanaan. Other cast members include Deborah Humble and Mae Heydorn as Herodias, with James Schouten as Narraboth and Jessica Ouston as the Page, Davide Basso, Jonathan Finney, Dominick Felix, Andrew Tinkler, Phil Clieve, Felix Kemp, and Annabel Bigland.

The opera opens on April 10 and runs through the 23, 2026.
